Mathrubhumi Books will publish two books commemorating MT Vasudevan Nair’s birthday

Kozhikode: Mathrubhumi Books will publish two books commemorating the birthday of beloved Malayalam writer MT Vasudevan Nair. ‘Rangam’, the script written by MT and ‘MT: Mathrubhumikaalam’ by M Jayaraj.

The book ‘MT: Mathrubhumikaalam’ chronicles the period when MT Vasudevan Nair served as editor of Mathrubhumi Weekly. In the book, one can see the life journey of an editor who helped nurture many aspiring writers and helped them grow and navigate new ways of writing and new dimensions of literature. M Jayaraj who has worked in the marketing department of Mathrubhumi since 1978 and as a director of Mathrubhumi Books has written six books so far. His works include ‘Malayala Cinema Pinnitta Vazhikal’, ‘Malayala Achchadi Madhyamam: Bhoothavum Varthamanavum’, ‘Mahatmaji: Mathrubhumi Rekhakal’, ‘Mathrubhumiyum Basheerum’, ‘Mathrubhumiyum SK Pottekaattum’ and ‘Mathrubhumi Vishwothara Kathakal’.

The books will be released by novelist M Mukundan at a reception to be held at KP Kesava Menon Hall in Kozhikode on Friday evening. The first copy of the book will be received by novelist and journalist Subash Chandran. Director of Digital Affairs Mayura Shreyams Kumar and M Jayaraj will speak at the ceremony.

This is the first time that director IV Sasi’s screenplay “Rangam”, released in 1985 and written by MT, is published in book form. “Rangam” is a romantic drama starring Mohanlal and Shobana and revolving around Kathakali and music.

There will be a special anniversary discount on MT books from July 15 to July 22 on Mathrubhumi Books on line.
