The Bookseller – Rights – Hot Key Books Picks Up Burge’s Arthurian Horror

Hot Key Books has recovered wake up the witchan “atmospheric and thrilling contemporary” YA novel by Rachel Burge.

Senior editor Maurice Lyon has acquired worldwide rights to Amber Caraveo from Skylark Literary Agency.

“I’m thrilled that Hot Key is releasing Rachel’s latest work,” commented Caraveo. “They are the perfect editor for this novel that brilliantly explores the female characters and energy of Arthurian legend in an intensely gripping and atmospheric tale of dark horror and transcendent magic.”

Oplay the witch is a novel “infused with magic and horror”, based on the folklore of the Isle of Bardsey, said to be Avalon’s true location. Burge offers a feminist take on Arthurian legend, highlighting lesser-known stories and beloved characters.
